I will come out and admit that I'm terrible at keeping up with this blog, but I found something too cute to resist blogging about.
I found the most adorable tutorial for sock snowmen on Pinterest from
Then She Made. My husband was stuck on his video game on Sunday night, so I took the opportunity to go out and buy some supplies. :-) I had a hard time buying the decorative socks. The cheap $1.50 ones were all neon colors and the adorable ones were $3, which isn't terrible, but I usually buy socks in a package so that they cost less per pair. It was also difficult to cut up such adorable socks, but I managed and I'm glad I did.
You can view the tutorial at
Then She Made and I'll just show you my photos (from the new Canon 60D, my early Christmas present!) and comment on how I might have strayed from the tut.

My twine seemed to be a bit thicker than in the tutorial, but it didn't turn out too badly. I kept my bows in the back. Also, I didn't use twine on the body of the last snowman (front right). I also made some of their hats more fun by cutting the tops into strips and tying at the bottom (see red-striped 'man in the "brothers" photo above). My socks seemed to be a little long in the sweater part, so I just tucked the sweater under at the top and bottom. That way, there's also no frayed edges showing. All in all, this is a super cheap, adorable craft and I think it'd be hard to turn into a
Pinstrosity (a favorite blog I follow to make me feel better after a Pin goes wrong).
I finished this just as Joe got home from work. He came home grumpy, so the four snowmen stared at him as he cooked dinner until he got un-grumpy. I think it worked.
'Tis the season!
